About this course
“Gospel & Dharma” is based on a critique of fundamentalist Christianity by the Sri Lankan, A.L. De Silva. This course will have lectures presented in 3 segments:
- There will be an initial summary of, and response to, the main ideas in each chapter of De Silva’s work, for the purpose of clarification.
- This will be followed by a review of the key Christian doctrine in question, with discussion on the problems from a Buddhist perspective.
- Each session will close with a critique of the Buddhist doctrine or perspective that is held up as a challenge to the Christian belief-system.
Note: ID203 is a prerequisite for this course.
Lecturer : Ng Seng ChuanRev Ng Seng Chuan did his theological training at Trinity Theological College (BD, 1977), as well as at Regent College (MCS, 1983). In 2006, he felt prompted to begin a serious study of the Buddhist religion. He took classes at a Buddhist temple, the Mangala Vihara, and subsequently gained the diploma (2007), BA (2010) and MA (2011) degrees from the Buddhist & Pali University of Sri Lanka.
