About 2,040 years old Oil Lamp
This is an early Roman oil-lamp and is about 2,040 years old. It was made
from a mould, marking a new stage in the manufacture of such lamps. The
earlier lamps were made from the potter's wheel. it is "factory lamp" and
was mass-produced. Notice the typical Roman lamp features: the double axe
markings on the shoulders.
The centre or "discus" of the lamp has a "sun design". The filling
hole (for olive oil to be poured in) is small.
