Rev Dr David Wong

I met with a few of the faculty and students of BGST and was glad to hear the following commendatory words they had for BGST:

  • BGST offers flexibility for working lay people. They do not need to leave their job to study theology.
  • BGST gives high level theological education and most of our students are professionals who already have a degree.
  • BGST's fees are affordable; its cost is a fraction of studies overseas.
  • BGST's credits are transferable to Regent College, Vancouver.
  • Its location is central and the Library facilities are good.
  • Studying in Singapore is convenient with transport, food, etc. easily available.

I always believe in investing in the lives of people. I do not want us to miss any opportunities to do so.

I have been much encouraged by the BGST's commitment to the Word of God, expressed in its teaching and the direction the School has taken. All this, together with the desire to promote 'marketplace Christianity' drew me to BGST from its early years. I began first as a postgraduate student completing two of my Regent College papers at BGST and later served as a Council member. Although it was a relatively young School, BGST has brought in renowned theologians who shared their expertise and passion with us. Foreign students who studied at BGST have gone on and distinguished themselves in higher studies and service for God in their respective countries. BGST has become an important institution for spiritual learning. May the Lord's hand continue to be upon all that BGST does. May lives be enriched under its care and institution.

Rev Dr Chan Fong

Biblical Graduate School of Theology (BGST), established in 1989, is a trans-denominational Bible college which aims to nourish, strengthen and equip the whole body of God. It has for many years raised up pastors who are firm in their faith and passionate in their vision. Our church has in recent years called into service a BGST graduate as pastor and he has brought revival to the church. One of BGST's programmes, the Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies, has also nurtured many lay leaders. As a pastor, my heart is filled with thanksgiving to God whenever I see believers referring to the Bible in its original language during Bible studies. I am thrilled when they can deliver a rousing sermon on the pulpit, teach in the Sunday School or serve in the Mission Department. BGST urges all lay leaders to serve with humility, working closely with their pastors and other church leaders. I fully recommend BGST to all churches and continue to encourage my church to support BGST in prayer, action and giving.

Church leaders need more than inspiring motivation: BGST has shown that a strong foundation in God's Word is indispensable for Christian living and service. It has done a valuable service to the Church in her faithful commitment to biblical integrity, theological soundness and ministry relevance. I readily recommend it!

Rev Dr Daniel Chua

We believe in BGST. That's why our church has committed at least S$40,000 each year towards its ministry since its inception. Many of our members who have studied at BGST have found it to be a very rewarding investment. A handful of them have even taken their initial studies at BGST further and gone on to pursue Masters level and Doctoral level studies overseas. BGST fulfills a niche in that it gives the laity a solid head start in serious theological studies until such time that they are ready to do it on fultime basis.

Dr Clive Lim

I struggled for nearly a year before enrolling at BGST in 2003. "Can I study again after a lapse of seventeen years?" "Will I have the time, considering my heavy workload and incessant travels?" "Why study theology? Why not just read the Bible?" Becoming a student again was not easy. BGST tried hard to accommodate my travels and work schedule. Frequently I was discouraged when I fell behind on my assignments and readings. But Dr Quek and his team gave generously of their time outside classroom hours to ensure that I stayed on-track. The result was surprising: work and studies combined so well. I was able in the midst of my studies to list our company on the Singapore Stock Exchange and guide its subsequent expansion overseas. Travelling was not a hindrance to my studies: hours spent on the plane were given to reading; nights in hotels found me writing feverishly away. And I had time for dinner and TV. Theological studies expanded the breadth of my faith in a refreshing way. I was willing to weigh and accept diverse views. I appreciate better now the richness of 2000 years of our Christian legacy. This new understanding for my God and for my 'neighbours'. Thank God for BGST!

Dr Lim is now the chairman of the BGST Council.

Rt Rev Dr Narenda John

I have known Biblical Graduate School of Theology in Singapore for a period of time and watched its steady growth both in the number of students it has impacted and the depth of commitment it has brought about their lives. The innovative nature of the programmes as it relates to marketplace theology, has given a new focus and direction to curriculum designing in theological education. Dr. Quek Swee Hwa's vision to make Christian witness relevant in marketplaces has brought fresh breath in the whole area of innovation with an express purpose of making disciples of nations who have deep commitment to the Lordship of Christ in the present post-modern age. The quality of faculty as they mentor individual students goes a long way in bringing about integration in theological education. There is theological integrity as well as educational soundness. I wish the leadership, faculty and students of Biblical Graduate School of Theology God's richest blessings.
